Mauricio Pochettino’s next move.

Some are saying that Poch’s arguably unfair sacking by Spurs means he has no love for the club – making the Arsenal job a possibility.

However, I can’t see it. Spurs may have mistreated him now, but the man doesn’t strike me as somebody out for revenge in any situation, and I’m not sure the Arsenal job is one he’s looking at considering there are “easier” jobs across Europe he could realistically get.

What is Mauricio’s next move?

Well, only days after his dismissal he’s already linked with a high profile position in a European giant – Bayern are currently without a manager and whilst they seemed, at first, to be willing to be patient and allow their caretaker manager a chance to prove himself, that might’ve changed once a very desirable manager became available, and that’s such a good narrative. Poch, if he gets the job right away, will have to play Spurs in the Champions League group stage with a team who beat him 7-2 with ease, and that was with a manager Bayern deemed to be not good enough! You’d think that Poch would batter Jose with the squad he would have.

However, there are a few jobs he could get with a little patience that he might want even more. I already mentioned Arsenal as a last resort option, and I stand by what I said about him not going there, but Manchester United have been looking at Poch and have been linked with him for ages, so if Ole continues to underperform he could be terminated and Poch would be the fans’ choice to replace him, without a doubt.

There’s also one more place to mention, and it’s Mauricio Pochettino’s dream job: Real Madrid. Zidane is under pressure, and whether it’s warranted is irrelevant – he’s quite widely believed to have no chance of lasting the season in Madrid. Poch would win things in Spain, there’s no doubt in my mind. He has the best club of all time’s finances at his disposal, and that’s bound to be more transfer budget than he could ever dream of come next summer. Imagine Poch with financial backing! He’d repeat Zidane’s achievement of three straight UCL’s surely? Maybe that’s a little far. But what a prospect.
